Getting started
This guide walks you through creating an account, describing your business, and starting your first assessment.
Creating your account
Sign up with your email address and a password. NISTnow sends a confirmation link to your email before you begin, so your account is tied to an address you control. Creating the account takes a few minutes.
Describing your business
After sign-up, you set up your organization: its name, industry, number of employees, and annual revenue, and whether it has had a formal assessment before.
Each assessment then opens with 22 questions about how the business runs, such as who looks after its IT, the devices staff use, and the data it holds. A few answers add a short follow-up question. The questions take about 10 minutes, and they are what let NISTnow fit your questions and your report to your business, rather than giving you generic advice. A later assessment starts from the answers you gave last.
Starting your first assessment
Starting is free. You choose a scope, answer the guided questions, and see a preview of your results; you pay only if you decide to unlock the full report.
Choose a scope, then begin answering the guided questions. There are no wrong answers and no pass or fail. Answer as honestly as you can; an honest picture is the whole point, and it is what makes your roadmap useful.
